GB/DL/1906 Design
While designated as a destroyer leader, the ships were intended to function as
super-destroyers, as they were larger and faster than the smaller destroyers. They
were 1,200 ton vessels with dimensions 326ft x 30ft x 9ft (designed). Their designed
maximum speed was 35 knots. They were armed with 4-20pdr (88mm) guns and 2-21in torpedo
tubes. The originally designed power was 33,500 SHP, which was greatly exceeded
in the final design. The ships were capable of producing much more power than this.
